2 variations of a painting

I entered this painting late month for an exhibition ,the subject being The horse. I have no horse, did just a bit of riding when I was younger therefore I had no idea what to do till I realised that I had a horse at home ! a sculpture of one of the four famous Marly horses ( their replicas can be seen on the Concorde Place in Paris.)

I am back painting and being Summer I have started painting landscape instead of Still life. I have very little experience but it is a fantastic feeling to be in nature trying hard to reproduce - more to interpret it. The greens are really a challenge!

An unfinished painting.18"x14". 47cmx36cm

This is an old painting which was never finished. I have readjusted some values - mostly the light which reminds me of the importance of creating good values right from the start : dark, light and middle tone , simple is it not !

Roquebrune mountain 20"x16" 50x40cm

Roquebrune (Huile)

From our house similar to the one in this picture (but with a swimming poole) we could see this fantastic rock formation changing colour under different light.
The challenge was to give the three level of depth in this landscape.

2 Nude studies on paper

Long time since I was able to write, but the death of my husband 7 months ago explains my silence. He always knew that my passion for painting will help me. These 2 twenty minutes studies were done at the school of Fine Arts in Cherbourg.

Back to Toleware

I was contacted in April for some Toleware work for a client and here is a gathering of the work. I used to have a small business of metal trays , jardinieres and wastebins that I decorated and sold to shop or designer (see my Profile)

Oranges and wrapping 16"x13" 41x33cm

I am trying to avoid to be too descriptif and realist with my work. To give too many details might not be a quality after all. I have to remember that "less is more" and  that is what I have been trying to do with this painting.
I am please with the result and this treatment has taken this picture to an abstract level.
